Sybase Positioning
Sybase is the enterprise infrastructure company that bridges heterogeneous
technologies.  We make everything work together. Sybase database,
integration, and tools expertise enable you to bring together all the
disparate data and business applications running in your enterprise and
extend them to any location worldwide.

Value Proposition
With Sybase software, you can be assured that everything will work
together, preserving investments, avoiding proprietary traps, and
 improving efficiency.

What does Sybase do?
Sybase is a global provider of enterprise infrastructure software
Sybase helps align and make different technologies work together to
provide business-critical information anywhere and at any time
Sybase product breadth includes databases and development tools,
application servers and integration middleware, and user access
technologies like enterprise portals and mobile databases

Is Sybase still in the database business?
Sybase continues to make major investments in our flagship database,
   Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE)
ASE is the dominant database used on Wall Street, where one out    of
every two stock trades is executed on a Sybase platform and
ASE is gaining ground in emerging markets like China, where it has a
45% share of the telecommunications market.
Sybase's mobile database, Adaptive Server Anywhere dominates that
   market, with a 68% share
There's also Adaptive Server IQ for data warehousing. Adaptive Server IQ
works with Sun Microsystems and together we recently announced the
   world's largest database deployment

But Sybase seems to have small market share. What makes you think you can
compete with behemoths like Oracle, Microsoft and IBM?
Where Sybase chooses to play, we do exceptionally well
Our strategy is to go deeper in markets where we are already strong
vertical markets such as financial services, where we have a dominant
     58% share of Wall Street
mobile/wireless, where we have a dominant 68% share of mobile
     databases
e-business integration where our enterprise portal has been
categorized as a leader in Gartner Group's magic quadrant

What is Sybase's Web services strategy?
Sybase has a comprehensive Web services framework that lets you do
anything you want with web services from developing new web services to
   accessing existing web services
Sybase's comprehensive framework works with more application components
that any other web services provider
Components include EJBs, Java, .Net, XML, Database Stored Procedures,
Mobile Message Services, CICS applications, as well as ERP adaptors to
     Siebel, Peoplesoft, and SAP

How do iAnywhere and Financial Fusion fit into the picture?
iAnywhere and Financial Fusion are Sybase subsidiaries.
Each subsidiary was created to focus on the needs of specific markets
and each builds on Sybase expertise in making everything work together.
iAnywhere is is the market-leading provider of mobile and wireless
solutions that enable anywhere, anytime access to enterprise
     information and applications.
Financial Fusion that helps financial organizations unify and control
     complex infrastructures.
